Skillet

So for my internship at Kiss FM I was asked if I wanted to work a concert being held at my college. Skillet would be headlining at UW Oshkosh. The Kolf Arena would be filled with 4,200 fans on March 4, 2011 all anticipating the Christian hard rock band. For me I had never heard of Skillet and I did not know what the buzz was all about at my college. The day of the concert I helped other staff members at Kiss hand out stickers and play games with the crowed. It was a standing room only even so the students did not want to lose their spot near the stage. After we got done handing things out fellow intern Amy and I went to meet the band. I wish I could of traded places with my friends who really loved the band and would of done anything to meet them. I did however get them autographs. The band was very cool, young, and hip. These are all hard things to have when your trying to get the message of Christianity out to young people. I did not get to see the whole concert, but the half I did see was amazing. They had so much energy when they entered the stage. Now I wish I would of gotten and interview with them for my college radio station. I now own a Skillet CD and have read up on it quit a bit.

Kiss For Kids

I have been doing some work on the KISS FOR KIDS Radiothon to benefit Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. It is really neat to do this type of work. When I was growing up they did not have the Fox Valley Children's Hospital in Neenah. Due to major medical problems growing up I did grow up at Theda Clark Hospital. I spent at least a week a month at the hospital for the first 13 years of my life. Sometimes I would not get to come home for months at a time. Birthdays and Holidays became a hospital event most years. The staff became family to us. It was some of the worst and best years of my life. I can totally relate to the children and parents who have to use the hospital facility. It's something most people can't understand. I did not have a normal childhood, but it was sure filled with a lot of love from my family and the staff at the hospital. I am proud to be working for such a worthy cause!

first blog

My name is Tanya, I just started as an intern at Kiss FM. I am currently a Senior at UW Oshkosh. I am majoring in Radio/TV/Film and minoring in Communications. I currently hold the Production Director position at WRST 90.3 at my college.

I love sports (Dallas Cowboys) and (LA Lakers). No I am not a Packers, Brewers, or Bucks fan. I like to be different. I also love animals, TV, and movies. I spend a lot of time with my friends and my five nieces and nephews. I enjoy all kinds of music, but have been a fan of Bret Michaels and Poison for the last twenty years.

I am pretty busy, but I love spending time at home with my dog Trevor Vincent the first. He is a nine year old Chihuahua named after singer Vince Neil. I also have a cat named Emma Rose who is named after my favorite song "Every Rose Has A Thorn."

It will be a busy last semester of school, but I am looking forward to working at 95.9 Kiss FM.
